Brett Phelps
Visual Journalist & Content Creator
Brett Phelps is a visual journalist based in Bardstown, Kentucky. In his Senior year, Brett is studying photojournalism, marketing, data analytics, and computer information systems at Western Kentucky University. He is also a member of the Mahurin Honors College.
Brett has served as the print and web Visuals Editor of Western Kentucky University's Talisman, a student life and culture website and print magazine, as well as the Multimedia Gear Specialist and Social Media Specialist in WKU's Photojournalism department. In the spring of 2024, Brett was a teaching assistant for the Mobile Media and Intro to Media classes. Brett has also worked as a Production Assistant with WKU's Public Broadcasting Station (PBS).
In the summer of 2024, Brett was a Pulliam Fellow at The Indianapolis Star, working as a visual journalist. He completed an internship with The Chautauquan Daily as a visual journalist in the summer of 2023. He also served as the Creative Media Specialist for the Nelson County Schools in the summers of 2022 and 2023. Brett has also recently completed a Civic Leaders Fellowship, traveling between our nation's capital and California.
In his downtime, Brett enjoys taking long drives through the country backroads with the windows down, going on hikes, traveling to new destinations, attending concerts, and playing the piano.
